Doctor (son of Thomas MASTERSON and Jane MCCLUNG) was born on 6 Sep 1795
in Blue Sulphur, Greenbrier, Virginia.5
He died on 27 Oct 1871 in Marshalltown, Marshall, Iowa. BIOGRAPHY:

Samuel Arminius was born on a farm in Greenbrier County, Virginia on September
6, 1795. The family moved to Nicholas County in 1810.
Sam became a country doctor, alhough we don't know what his training was. He
and his wife Betsy were members of the Kanawho Baptist Church of Christ until
1835 when they became charter members at Gauley Bridge. Sam was Clerk of that
church from 1837 to 1845 when they moved their membership to Hopewell Baptist
Church at New Haven (now Ansted), which was nearer their home. In the 1850s
Sam and Betsy and their youngest son moved to Blue Grass Township of Scott
County, in eastern Iowa. By 1870, they were shown as residents of Tipton,
County Seat of Cedar County, Iowa. Later they moved again to Marshall County,
in central Iowa, where four of their children lived. Samuel Arminius
Masterson died there October 27, 1871, and was buried in the Timber Creek
Cemetery.
